How chargeback protection (dispute alerts) works
Alerts give you a short window to refund before a dispute becomes a chargeback.
When a cardholder disputes a charge with their bank, dispute alert networks (Visa RDR, Ethoca and CDRN) can warn the merchant first. You then have a short window to refund the customer and stop the chargeback — or let it continue.
Why it matters
| Without alerts | With alerts |
|---|---|
| Chargeback fee on every dispute | Refund instead — no chargeback on your record |
| Dispute ratio climbs; accounts can be held or closed | Ratio stays low |
| You find out weeks later | You know within hours |
How it works with VOXEPAY
- We enroll each of your descriptors (the name on card statements) with the networks. Coverage starts once each network shows Live.
- When an alert arrives, it appears in your portal with the amount, card (last digits), reason and a deadline.
- You choose Refund or Decline — or set an automatic refund for small amounts.
Billing
Your fees (any setup fee, per-alert fee and monthly fee) are shown before you agree. The card is saved on Stripe's secure page — VOXEPAY never sees your full card number.
