Merchant Services Sales Representative
Most merchant services sales jobs hand you a script, a quota and a rate sheet you are not allowed to explain. This one does not work that way.
You will be talking to US business owners about what they actually pay to accept cards — reading their statements, showing them where the markup sits, and telling them honestly when switching would not help. That last part matters here. We would rather lose a deal than write a merchant who leaves in four months.
You are selling into restaurants, retail, professional services, e-commerce and B2B. Applications go through our own portal, underwriting comes back in 24 to 48 hours on most complete files, and you keep earning on every account for as long as it processes.
We are small. You will speak to the owner of the business every week, not a manager three levels up.
What you will do
- Prospect US small and mid-sized businesses by phone, email and in person
- Review merchant processing statements and explain in plain English what they show
- Build proposals that compare a merchant's real effective rate against what we can offer
- Walk applications through our portal and chase the documents underwriting asks for
- Stay with the merchant through boarding so the first month goes smoothly
- Keep your pipeline honest and current in the back office
- Flag anything that looks like a risk problem before it becomes one
What we are looking for
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Based in the United States
- Able to pass a background check after an offer is made
- 1+ year in B2B sales, or direct experience selling to small business owners
- Comfortable making outbound calls and handling objections without a script
- Can read a spreadsheet and explain a number to somebody who is not a numbers person
- Reliable internet and a quiet place to work
Nice to have
- Experience in payments, merchant services, POS or fintech
- An existing book of small business relationships
- Experience with a CRM or pipeline tool
- Spanish or another second language
